How to Build the Ultimate Shepherd’s Hut – 6 Luxury Features to Consider Incorporating into your Shepherd’s Hut

With the glamping trend showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, investing in a shepherd’s hut could be one of the best decisions an accommodation business makes. These huts have become incredibly popular with holidaymakers across the UK, presenting an unmissable opportunity that all B&B and campsite businesses should be looking to capitalise on.

Being able to offer guests a luxury stay in a cosy shepherd’s hut rather than just a bog-standard hotel room is a great way for appealing to a wider range of customers and differentiating yourself from your competitors.

But with so many possibilities and different options to consider, how can you make sure your shepherd’s hut is the most attractive to potential customers? To help you out, here we’ve listed some of our favourite features that you can incorporate into your hut.

Shepherd’s Hut with Hot Tub

If you’re wanting to position yourself as a romantic venue and target couples looking for a weekend getaway, then a hot tub is a must. Offering a homely shepherd’s hut that also comes with a private hot tub is likely to appeal to both young and older couples alike and will probably be in high demand throughout the entire year – unlike many other of life’s luxuries, hot tubs can be used all-year round providing they have a suitable overhead cover.

The type and size of hot tub you choose to have is completely up to you. Some of the upper end models come with LED mood lighting and in-built sound systems, whereas others come with waterfalls and high-power jets, so we recommend browsing around at the various manufacturers before purchasing to ensure you find the right one for the right price.

Bathroom and All the Necessities

Let’s be honest, communal shower blocks aren’t the nicest of facilities. Not many people like the idea of sharing a toilet, so one thing we strongly advise is to integrate a private bathroom with all the essential features into your hut’s design. This includes a toilet, walk-in shower, vanity sink, towel rail and any other accessories you deem appropriate.

Interior Design

The interior appearance of your hut should be one of your top priorities. Of course what you choose to include will depend on personal preferences, but we recommend trying to make it as homely and snug as possible. Your guests need to feel comfortable and at ease whenever they’re spending time in the hut so make sure everything not only looks great but is also in good condition.

WiFi

Providing WiFi to your guests at no additional charge is something that is bound to stand you in good stead. Whether it be for work purposes, to have a quick look at social media or to catch up on the latest news, our society has become so reliant on the internet that for the vast majority of people, whether WiFi is available or not is a crucial factor in the decision-making process of booking accommodation.

Insulation

If you’re wanting to be able to offer your shepherd’s hut to guests 365 days of the year, then it’s absolutely essential that it is properly insulated. They can become excessively cold in the winter otherwise, so be sure to include underfloor/central heating, corrugated roofs and double-glazed hardwood windows. This’ll enable the huts to maintain a comfortable temperature on even the most bitter of days, making them a much more favourable option than a tent!

Kitchenette

Another feature we suggest you include in your hut is a kitchenette. Many people like having the option to cook their own food while away on holiday, so by simply providing them with a hob, sink, kettle, microwave and fridge, you’re helping to keep the cost of your guests’ holiday down as they can prepare their own meals rather than be foreced to eat out all of the time.

It can also be a nice touch to provide your guests with complimentary tea bags, coffee and milk on their arrival. They’ll probably just want to relax in their cosy hut for a little while if they’ve travelled from afar, so by offering these essentials they can just sit down and enjoy a cuppa without needing to take a trip to the local store. It’s little things like this that can go a long way to impressing your guests.
